With an exclusive new bonus chapter... from Adam's POVBased on the available information and the data hitherto collected, my hypothesis is that the further I stay away from love, the better off I will be.'Contemporary romance's unicorn: the elusive marriage of deeply brainy and delightfully escapist.' Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners*When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman's carefully calculated theories on love into chaos. As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is on her way to a happily ever after was always going to be tough, scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting woman, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees. That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when he agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. "The pacing of this book was my favorite part, and I mean it as a compliment. The writing wasn't special to me, but it was good. The story was crazy and unrealistic (as a romance) but definitely interesting. The characters could be annoying/frustrating 🫒 but their intentions kinda made up for some of it. But then the pacing of everything was so well done that it was easy to get lost in the book and say "just one more chapter" until you fall asleep. I definitely enjoyed it, but ***minor spoiler to be placed below my rating***. I would also recommend not reaching for the audiobook. I was originally gonna go back and forth between audio and visual, but I didn't even listen to a minute and could already not stand how the voices were portrayed. Do what you will, 7.5/10🥦🎃
**minor spoiler** I, for some reason, was under the false impression that this book had no ****. For those who are interested in reading but don't like detailed sex scenes, it is completely contained within a little more than a chapter. I don't remember which one but you'll know when you get there. Skip the rest of that chapter and then the beginning of the next. And don't read the bonus chapter. :) You won't miss anything plot-wise and can still enjoy the book!"
"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* Well dang! I'm honestly happy that I enjoyed this book especially since there was a lot of hype about it. I had already loved the fact that it was a science based love story, the prologue was great. I didn't really like how the beginning started with the big thing(kissing him) was already happening, I think I kind of wanted more background beforehand I guess. I mean we did get that afterwards but still, I also didn't like the way Olive kept inner-commenting on how big and broad Adam was every chapter or so. I get it he's a big guy, I don't need to be told over 30 times, okay? Right off the bat, I knew something sketchy was happening with Tom(I forsure thought he was going to steal her work), it is sad that there are some people like Tom out there getting away with that behavior, you know? The miscommunication sucked! I didn't like the fact that they both were not saying the things they wanted too but I get it at the same time. Their banter was super cute and their "scene(s)" was special for them, which I loved, especially after reading from Adam's POV. Also I can see why people say this is basically Adam Driver fan-fic, I found that hilarious. I love this book, and I'm looking forward to reading her next ones mainly for the science stuff though."
"I accidentally read all of Ali Hazelwood’s books backwards, and I had to check the cover of Love on the Brain while I was reading this one because the descriptions of the two male leads were so similar. This book was not bad by any means, but it’s not memorable like Love Theoretically. Ali Hazelwood does a good job of writing books that are hard to put down. "
"This was such a cute and fluffy story. After reading “Love on the Brain”, I was nervous that I wasn’t going to enjoy the story, however, I was wrong. This novel, although the premise was about scientists, it was not oozing scientific terms that someone outside of the field of study would struggle to comprehend.
The story does indeed have a slow burn, but I promise the drama and the pulling of the heartstrings happens once you hit the half way mark. This novel was my first “sunshine grumpy trope”, and although the whole entire storyline stems from a single lie.. I had to remind myself this is supposed to be a cheese rom-com, not real life. As soon as I wrapped my mind around this, I was able to enjoy the story and become invested in the characters and their relationships and friendships."
