"Mulan has long been and probably will forever be my favorite Disney princess movie. In fact, it used to be my favorite movie. It's just well done. The songs are amazing, the jokes are spot-on, the characters are fun, the plot is great, and my goodness is Shan-Yu a great villain. I'm a firm believer in the fact that if you don't accomplish a great villain you won't have a great story. That doesn't mean the villain needs to be some Lex Luthor or top notch evil mastermind, they just need to work for their story and progress both the story and the main characters motivation. But enough about the guy with the yellow eyes. Let's talk about some other things. Like Mulan. She is so much fun to watch. Her progression helps motivate your attention. It also helps that Ill Make a Man Out of You is one of the most beloved disney songs out there. (Truly just ask anyone and the amount of positivity towards that sing is outstanding). Mulan's voice actress is superb. Love her and she kicks butt in real life too which only enhances the moments (it'll also make you hate her cameo in the remake tho, just a warning). The battle sequences work for the movie, and the animation expresses the intensity of certain moments. For a Disney movie, which studio is normally about fun times and sunshine this one does well for what it's been tasked with. Despite that, it's still lighthearted enough kids won't be thrown off. Now for the characters. You will enjoy one of the side characters that I can assure you. You'll either love Mushu, Cricket, or the horse. Basically, Mulan maxes out on fun animals sidekicks. Plus, she's got that amazing grandma. Who let's face it can really be the heart of this story with every golden line that's spoken. Overall a masterpiece of a Disney movie, it's not without fault (like that ending where she tries talking random people into helping her save the emperor. . .yeah not the brightest idea there, of course you'll be seen as crazy). Still, it's always worth seeing. "
