"It's one of the only movies I've ever found that actually breaks the societal habit of matching up a hot guy with an okay looking girl. And they address that fact and play up the part. (The only other one I've found was Hairspray) It's a great time and an enjoyable ride. It's funny, clever, and just plain intelligent. Granted there are a lot of cringey moments. In fact one entire sequence of the movie you're going to want to look away and skip. But that happens in most romcoms. I enjoyed the message and even thought they played it well. I love the characters and the lines. Most of it is just beyond fun. The main character is relatable even if you don't enjoy what she does, and they truly play everything to a realistic standard. It's not a fairytale ending or a perfect compilation of stories. It just is. Yes the ending is a happy one but it feels like that could actually happen. That's hard to pull off half the time. Every part of the movie can be both shocking and predictable. It makes it an exciting time but not too jarring that you're gonna hate the experience. I salute the movie for what it accomplishes and tip my hat to the people who made it. Even if I rarely will watch it and want to skip many of the moments. It's a good movie. But not one you're gonna throw on every now and then. You'll watch it once, appreciate it, then move on. Maybe throw it on once a year to relive the parts you liked. Yet that'll probably be the end of your relationship with it. Still. I do recommend it just for a quirky afternoon."
