"I love Kurt Russell and this movie just demonstrates why. He's a respected law man but a good man. He puts himself out there to help people and well I'm not fond of the end. The other actors were excellent. Matthew Fox , Patrick Wilson, Richard Jenkins hold up to their fearless leader well. Watch it but beware of some gruesome scenes. "
"I'm not a huge fan of Westerns but this movie is one of the few exceptions. And that is because of the writer/director. S.Craig Zahler is a master of his craft. I'm a fan of everything that he has done so far. His characters have a grittiness that is based in reality even when the story is taken to extreme situations. Extremely violent and definitely not for the squeamish, but not done in a cheesy way. Also very well acted by a well rounded cast. I give it 9/10."
"This movie has such a cool idea and was definitely a genre mix but was lacking in the story and character development. The movie just needed more but it wasn't a bad movie it was a pretty solid watch and quite gruesome towards the end you will definitely cringe. Even if western is not your cup of tea should definitely give this one a try "
"Gut-wrenching and depressive, this work of western horror follows the whacky adventures of a sheriff, a cripple, a dementia patient, and an autistic man. Many have criticized this film's long run-time, but I found that it never got boring and the long establishment does a great job fleshing these characters out, which greatly enhances the horror elements. You will learn to love these gentlemen, and then you will fear for them. Fantastic and shocking work of cinematic greatness."
"It's kind of insane that this movie created a race that acts like monsters and is completely coded as Native American and gets touted as progressive (I acknowledge the movie makes a distinction but I mean... cone on... why? How did The Searchers do a "who are the real monsters?" Narrative more cohesively and less offensively in the ******* 50s? And even that movie is far from perfect.)"
