"I loved the book and I love the movie. Beautiful costumes and actors. Being from the South I understand all the themes and views are not modern but reflected a romanticized version of history. I loved Melanie and loved Rhett. Mammie is my favorite though. Hattie McDaniel won the Oscar for this role and deserved to be celebrated more. See it for what it is a beautiful cinematic story of a romanticized time in US history with some brutal truths as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
"I finally saw this movie, and I knew I would have love-hate relationship with it. I love this movie because it us so well constructed: this film is epic, larger than life, with beautiful cinematography and a large musical score to match. I admire all the black actors that were part of this film, even though they played the role of slaves, because they opened the door for all the other black actors to follow in Hollywood that is still overwhelming white. The plot surrounds Vivienne Leigh, who plays the role of a spoiled southern belle who will go to any means to preserve her beautiful and genteel way of life that was built on the backs of black slaves. Clark Gable plays a charming crooked southern businessman who is more of a conscience to Scarlett, and is definitely not a gentleman. But I hate this movie because of the way it depicts black people; as scared, loud-mouthed, dim-witted, and not speaking well. The last half of the movie is better in that it showed some of the reality of a war-scarred nation getting back on its feet after a war that killed many men of that generation. Overall, this film leaves a bittersweet taste in my mouth, but I needed to see it at least once."

"3.5 stars I question the true black experience in this film but everything else was great especially Vivian Leigh and Clark gable"

"There’s absolutely no doubt that the depiction of slavery in this movie is wrong. A product of it’s time for sure. That being said, very impressively made on a technical level (cinematography, costumes, and production design especially). Strong performances, especially from Vivien Leigh and Olivia de Havilland. If nothing else, it can be viewed as a historical record of how society has changed over the years."
