"Hmm, I dunno🤨🤔 Linklater’s twisted little rom-com really just didn’t do it for me 🤷♀️ The pace was mostly plodding, with hardly any action or super-surprising plot twists to speak of, and the story was pretty implausible.
The only thing that maybe “saved” this film (for me) was the two good-looking leads — The chemistry was good and their relationship portrayal was sexy. That’s about it — don’t feel the need to elaborate🤪🙃 🌟6.5/10🌟 "
"This movie tries to make you dislike it, in several different ways. The total vibe change from fluffy cutesy to dark comedy is so abrupt. The ending scene is meant to get you to struggle with well, they deserved it vs F these crazies. Then the credit scene rolls and the say nah, we were just messing with you. But that’s Linklater for you I guess. Despite all this messiness, it’s new, original, fun content for a Friday night. And Powell and Arjona and really nice to look at. "
"I was initially gonna give two-stars, but I can't even think of a single thing I liked. The comedy aspect didn't click for me, the romance was meh, the vibe awkward, and the story not captivating enough. From my perspective, the movie started with what shouldve been in the middle of the plot, and later tries to spiral into a chaos that felt mild from how bored I was. Don't recommend, 1/5 🥸"
"Is this a Glen Powell takeover?? This movie is 100% showing off just how hot he can be. However, the only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because of the id/ego cat bowls. Great attention to detail there! Honestly, this was a very fun watch! Somewhat predictable, but great chemistry between the main characters and an awesome mixture of comedy and thrill. A great option for a mindless rom com.

"This is actually damn great time! Thoroughly entertaining (and charming) film, filled with classic movie star wattage and damn great dialogues (including delivery). A beautiful throwback to the movie star vehicles of the 80s and 90s. Phenomenal lead performance by Glen Powell (who has proven to be on a hot streak since TOP GUN: MAVERICK) - with sturdy writing by him too - with incredible chemistry with Adria Arjona. Richard Linklater has quite a versatile directorial style too, balancing movie star vehicles and independent films (I’ve seen BOYHOOD before). This is the kind of film that is sorely missing in the cinemas nowadays (movies with genuine movie star charm), and frankly this deserved to be distributed by a theatrical distribution company rather than a streamer. More people need to check this out."

"Powell probably has a good future in the business ahead of him and he tries hard here but I disliked this very much. It doesn’t even try to be “so bad it’s good”. I enjoyed one scene with the two leads playing on the misdirection. The tone is all over the place. The story is just. It’s just dumb. "
"This quirky crime film has some very talented performances by Powell, a sex-driven romantic subplot, and a unique tone. I went into this thinking it would be an endearing romcom- it didn't hit that mark. Instead, look at this as a true story crime movie with a hint of sex and comedy. The pacing, character dynamic, and overall vibe is just not romcom material, and honestly felt a bit off during some parts of the film (you meet the love interest 30+ min in, you don't really know where it's going because there's no action). However, I really enjoyed seeing Powell's skills here, and it honestly saved this movie for me. If you like Powell, like a little bit of every genre, and want a little steamy love story- this is for you."
