"Very entertaining — The whole vibe was eerie with a foreboding atmosphere, a really great set design, & a haunting film score.
All of this intertwined with a story about the link between a series of mysterious deaths 𝢀𝢀𝢀 and a malevolent ventriloquist dummy! 𝨱
Thanks @DJCount for recommending this one! 𝡻 "
"Dead Silence is a mess but it’s a mess I love dearly, it’s another shlock 2000s horror movie but this one has a selection of something spooky and interesting, maybe something happened to make it the way it is today but I still see it for what it is/ could of been and love it regardless. This on the lovable 2000s f-ups watch list for sure. #horror "
"This is an oldie but goodie for me. Really I don’t want to say much plot-wise, bc I knew nothing going in except that my mom saw it and loved it, and said I’d really like it lol. Honestly even if you’re not spooked by dolls and dummies, this one still hits the mark. Its super creepy vibes and all consuming ethereal edge already check a lot of boxes for me, and the cast is on point. This well written, well acted sleeper has legit become one of my favorites in the genre. I expected a good amount of cheese (based solely on when it came out), but instead it delivered cool cinematography (that doesn’t overtly try too hard), and a cool unexpected premise. I *highly* recommend this one, if nothing else it’s a fun ride! LOVE IT"
"3.8/5 Creepy doll movie starring the dumb jock from True Blood and a New Kid on the Block, how can it not be good 🧍🏻♂️🧍🏻♂️🧍🏻♂️🧍🏻♂️🧍🏻♂️? Also, directed by the horror master himself James Wan, who brought you such horror masterpieces as the Saw franchise, the Conjuring franchise, the Insidious franchise, Malignant, and....um..... Aquaman??? 🤔 James Wan directing a superhero movie is like the horror legend Sam Raimi directing a superhero movie. If he did, I'd call him a doctor because that's strange. (30% of you just chuckled, the rest have to read the whole review to understand why 😛). First off, the first 3ish minutes of the opening credits with the old Universal logo followed by the sketching and building of the puppet while some great catchy horror music playing is incredible, it really gets you into the mood for a scary movie. Two quick obstacles to get past, one is that Donnie Whalberg's character acts serious, but his dialogue and attitude is so bad....just bad. Second, this line is actually spoken towards the beginning of the movie...."In the town where I'm from, a ventriloquist dummy is a bad omen."🤣. Once you get past that, the movie is quite entertaining. You get plenty of jump scares and supernatural happenings. There is a lot of 'find the dummy' and lots of dummy eye movement for creep factor. There is even a bit of gore...so something for the whole family 👨👨👧👦. The ending is pretty nifty when you finally realize who the real puppet master is pulling the strings . Overall Wan made another fun horror flick that I enjoyed watching. P.S.- Yes, I'm aware Raimi did Spiderman before Dr. Strange, but I couldn't think of a witty joke for that, so would you kindly get off my back about it 𝨆? P.P.S.- Yes, TECHNICALLY Darkman is a superhero as well, but seriously, offa my back! P.P.P.S.- OH MY GOD!....Ash??? FINE..he vanquishes evil like a superhero. Point is, a good storyteller is a good storyteller, now go away! 𝨁𝨈😁"
