"It’s a cute show about show-business (acting in TV/movies, idols, etc). That said, it doesn’t carry the same energy throughout the series as the first episode. After the first episode, I was so excited to watch a series of twists as a child investigates his Mom’s death (giving a similar energy to Death Note). That wasn’t what it was at all.
TW: stalking, murder, depression, and suicide"
"One of possibly two 5 out of 5 anine airing this year. This one has this mix of an absolutely insane premise set up over its feature-length premier episode going into an intensely interesting idol anime that really dives into the mechanics of the idol industry and honestly Japan's entertainment industry as a whole. This isn't just a TedTalk tho. It's a wild ride of a surrealist story."
"Oshi no Ko is one season in as of this review, and it was amazing. It takes a critical look at the realities of stardom in Japan, especially in regards to idols and actors. But it's not only that, it's also a comedy, a mystery, a revenge story, and a romance, just to start. It touches on all these genres, and does it well, in my opinion. The first episode is a movie length prologue to the main storyline, as well as it's foundation, but it is critical, so don't be afraid to put in the time. There is also some triggering content, so be aware of where you are emotionally, because it can get dark."
