Brandon Reedis looking for a Book
Thanks to the upcoming film adaptation, I was explaining the plot of the children's book The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever to my wife, who never read it. I found myself struggling to hold back tears, until my wife finally said, "Are you CRYING?" I don't know why she was surprised, when she knows I can't even get through the song "Christmas Shoes," most days. ANYWAY. Are there any books like that from your childhood? Books that still have an emotional effect on you?

lyzander crossThere are a bunch of different versions of it I didn't bother looking for the specific one I read since it was in a large book of fairy tales along with a bunch of others

Phillip S.This book (the original) had a huge effect on me. The Main character a young boy who shared my name (Phillip and was the reason I started it) became blinded after a torpedo hit this ship he was on and stranded on an island with an older black man, Timothy, who his mother warned about black people (setting is during 1942 war) It's a phenomenal story about race, survival, life lessons, I still will read this by Theodore Taylor today
