"This is one of the most iconic anime and manga. The story is sweet but hints to a darker and richer undercurrent. The artwork is straight from the 90s with its huge eyes and razor-sharp jawlines.

It’s sweet. There are some elements that are so super cheesy and others are annoying. The main character isn’t my favorite but I can stand it because of other fun genres.

*** slight spoiler ***
Page 311 “...He specializes in getting sick.” It’s sad but funny. (What’s wrong with me)"
"When I can't concentrate on text, manga comes to the rescue. I particularly liked this series. Got me through my Dad's last weeks. "
"This is probably my favorite manga series of all time!"
"It's a manga, so pretty short read for a high price. But you can read it at your library and then if you absolutely fall in love with the series, buy it later. This is my new favorite series by far. It is wholesome and beautiful and has just the right amount of dark and light. These books handle trauma in different people beautifully and it also a bit of a romance and coming of age story near the end. Might not be for everyone but if you're looking for books that find beauty and wisdom even in dark times, have a few little laughs along the way, and will even make you cry a few times, I absolutely recommend these."
