A fantasy like you've never read before." ―#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. ArmentroutEnter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca YarrosTwenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant. She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order.Reading Order:Book #1 Fourth WingBook #2 Iron Flame

"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* HECK YEA 5 FREAKING STARS ALL THE WAY!!!! Wow what a book. Now I do have to say, it took me about 50 pages to get really invested but it was so worth it. There were some things that we plainly obvious that was going to happen and they did. Xaden I liked from the start and violet was awesome. I loved all the friends involved but I somewhat think there's going to be some bloodshed between them. I know everyone loves Liam but honestly he felt like a regular character to me lol. I am super mad at violence🤭, only because she kept letting Dain touch her even though she knew about his powers and how they worked. So that means he knows about the golden dragon and her powers. Violet is sometimes idiotic in that department. I did see some similarities between other books but I think its the writing style that hits different. This is my first read by Rebecca Yarros and I love how she wrote this fantasy, I'm pre-ordering book 2(Iron Flame) immediately and I'm super glad that I got the book when it came out because these sprayed edges are beautiful!!"
"Book 1 - Empyrean series- Violet is a great and unique lead. She has a physical disability but she learns how to conquer it. This book is about her dragons, learning how to put your trust in the right kind of people, and conquering your fears. Highly recommend! (Spoilers) Some spicy scenes toward the middle/end"
"I don’t like 🌶️🌶️ in my reading at all, but I’ll make an exception for this series because the story sucked me in and I really enjoyed it a lot. "

"I thought this was a 5/5 star read for me. For contextualization, I love the book! The plot kept me going and I almost got a reading slump after this. I like imagining the main character, Violet, going through an adventure in life. Life also means sm🌶️t scene with you know 😏. Of course, like many romance books, there is betrayal. Okay, now to the things that made it a 4/5 star and not like 5/5. Violet got that little Y/N moment when it came to threshing. She didn't get one but two! (you see what she gets when you read it). I kind of wished that the betrayal was more hurt worthy, idk 🤷🏻♀️."
"3.5 stars for me! Disappointed this really didn’t live up to all of the hype. It was just meh. Felt very YA, didn’t care for all the challenges. A lot of the political stuff left me confused. Finally kinda got it in the end though. The romance I wanted more of! Most of the book was NOT romance! I did love Xaden and Violet! The ending was really good. Still going to read the next one, just not as excited!"
"Hard to follow, wasn’t crazy about the fantasy"
