"I wanted to enjoy this more than I did. It starts off really slow and then the end goes by very quickly. But in all of that time I don't feel like I know much at all about the main character aside from the fact she's nice and whatever kind of person people tell her she is. Only a few characters really caught my interest and sadly the main character wasn't one of them. The only memorable thing about her is plot-specific and nothing inherently "Jules.'

Time and blood as currency was a fun concept. It came off a little dark but then would be contradicted by Jules trying to do adult things with a teen depth. There were no boundaries between the main character and what she sought to do. There's a lot of emphasis on the gap between low and high social class but then she crossed it easily. Consequences were depicted as dire but only off the page. She never experienced any of them. She just talked about the consequences to then avoid them.

This book was clunky with potential. The romance is more of a pining until it spills for a brief moment and then evaporates again, but it never felt like romance was the main theme and more of a setting up for the next book to tell a bigger story. For the next book I'm hoping better understanding of the characters and how who they shapes their choices, but we'll see. I just might not have been the target audience here."

"A great story! Super interesting lore and world building. Time is woven into the blood of people, and this blood/time mixture is currency. It's a story of class struggle while also being a story of fantastical proportions. Check out the sequel for more romance and a great end to this story!"

"What an Incredible book to start my year of reading off with!!! Granted, I haven't been reading very much this year already due to the fact that I've been doing college prep, but that changes tonight!!! Especially after this book, this was Such an incredible read and an Amazing concept!!! And, I'll admit, I had accidentally spoiled a few of the plot twists for myself by reading the synopsis for the second book, but even so there was One I had missed reading and was extremely shocked by it (Honestly, that **** Hurt)!!! I've extremely excited to start the second book!!!"

"I love reading the reviews of other readers. It’s so interesting how one reviewer chose to be condescending but then use a disclaimer to say “well I hope you like it better than I did”. I don’t give spoilers or run downs. But what I will tell you is that the storyline is creative compared to other YA fairytale fantasy books on the market. It’s easy to follow and as you near the end the author throws a couple of twists so when you think you can predict the outcome she tugs the rug and throws you off balance. I don’t need a book to pick apart how all the races of people are equally represented. The story isn’t about color. One assumes everyone is white but maybe they are all tan. Who cares. The author does address social standing and class hierarchy. But I feel the book is building on the main character and the development of minor characters in order to have a strong enough storyline to carry on to the next book. It’s an easy read. I found it entertaining and not a waste of time."
