"The plot gripped me the most. There is nothing better than reading a mysterious book thinking you have it figured out then getting blown away. This story follows a little girl living in a cell, who is curious about the post apocalyptic world she has grown up in but never even seen. <br/><br/>Melanie was an above board character, wicked smart and had a great sense of morality. I enjoyed her perspective very much watching her come alive at seeing the world and finding acceptance in others. Helen was the mother we would all want to have. She was such a stoic superhero. Doing all that is right and just. See through the monsters and finding a loving wanting soul reaching out a hand.<br/><br/>Though I quite liked all the characters even the love to hate ones. And oh those arcs yes yes yes. Also Flinty Williams did a excellent job of narrating the audiobook and made the story come to life.<br/><br/>To me this was a great Halloween read. The world building was nice with a spooky dark atmosphere and a gruesome story line that never slowed. I cringed so many times and honest to goodness pictured creatures jumping out at me. "Ahhh my face."<br/><br/>The ending of course..... never saw it coming. I was horrified and elated at the same time. Because it made sense in philosophical way. Life always finds a way and sometimes we just need to step back and get out of the way of it. Can't wait to read book two and watch the movie too ahhhhh.<br/><br/>"And then like Pandora, opening the great big box of the world and not being afraid, not even caring whether what’s inside is good or bad.
