"If you thought Gideon was a great read then buckle up! Funny, devastating, mysterious, this has it all. And if nothing else, Harrow has secured soup as my favorite meal"

"Well.. I finished… I’m still confused, I still have no answers. Will I continue on to Nona the Ninth? You bet your sweet ass. Why? Because now I’m invested in Harrow and Gideon. Because Tamsyn Muir, like the most perfect daddy dom edged me in the most beautiful of ways to no completion. She hung me right at the precipice and just when I was sure she couldn’t possibly hold out any longer threw me back and told me to patiently wait because I’m not special.
Listen aside from telling you that this book is CONFUSING, and that you’re about to be ROYALLY mindf*ckd I’m not sure how to review this book. Be prepared to have a million questions, to dislike Harrow because, well she’s not the same girl we were left off with at the end of Gideon. That Harrow was tinder plus, this Harrow is basic tinder. However, it’s so worth it. You meet a much more prepared, smart, ingenious calculating Harrow that is also insufferable. As if that was even a possibility. And you discover the heart of her, the emotional side of her we barely saw during Gideon and almost died for in the end. We get more of Ianthe, not a whole lot but just enough that TM made me wonder how deep is my hate for her. The Undying King, that is one deep complex character and I still lack the words. Take notes! I’m serious.. I didn’t so I can say you definitely should. Tamsyn Muir’s writing of Harrow and Gideon continues to be PHENOMENAL! The banter is still 💯, and the stakes have never been higher. My brain needs a break, but after a that and a bandaid to my heart, I’m eagerly returning to Nona because, I need to know. Much like Rachel in friends, I need closure. Happy reading!"

"Warning, the first time reading will be very confusing but once you get to the end everything comes together. I highly recommend re-reading in order to catch the genius it took to write this book. Loved everything once again, laughed and cried more than in Gideon. I loved the depiction of god and the relationship they all had, a very dysfunctional family. Loved this through and through, cannot recommend this series enough."

"Muir does it again. This book is confusing, incredibly hard to follow, and impossible to put down. Muir’s writing is so vivid and her characters are so engaging. I will say if you can’t read things in a second person perspective you’re gonna have a hard time getting through this one, but it wasn’t a problem for me and I absolutely loved this book. The re-read value on this baby is HIGH. Very highly, but also very cautiously recommend."

"i really didnt like 2nd person pov before this book, but the perspective choice is an excellent contribution to the plot. this book is dark, haunting, mysterious and queer. tamsyn muir is hitting it out of the ballpark with this series, and i'm so excited to read nona the ninth. this book is horrifying in a slow, mysterious way that eats at you and itself as you read it. my only issue is its a little slow at the start, but the rest of the novel more than makes up for it."

"this book was even more frustrating to read than the first. the issues with the magic frameworks barely existing continue, but accompanied by really cool meta stuff cultivated by fascinating use of point of view that culminates again into something underwhelming and under-supported by a readers knowledge of the magic system. this is only one thread of the plot; the other one makes even less sense, full of gratuitous drama. the character of god is fascinating, but concludes ineffectively as well."

"The psychological damage this book gave me was so worth it,,, a beautiful plot and lovable (affectionate and derogatory) characters coated with some yummy SADNESS. "
