"Just fantastic. The bulk of the book might feel a little boring for readers who don't care for politics or didn't care for the courtly scenes in the previous book. But there was so much character development and depth to everyone. I had to speed up my listening in the final third of the book because I could not handle the suspense!"
"The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I wasn't a fan of the first half of the book, a few things happened that I was at odds with and honestly I was a little disappointed by. It was all a little too transparent for my liking but the second half redeemed itself and by the end I was ready to read book 3. "
"⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
It’s taken me forever to read this one because it didn’t capture my interest nearly as well as the 1st book did. I do enjoy the story though, so I will finish the series.
What I liked about this book:
1. The character evolution. No one is perfect, which makes them relatable. You get more background and internal thoughts about some of the other characters.
2. The complex and thorough detail of the Mistborn world.
What I didn’t like:
1. Very slow until the last 3rd of the book. Then I couldn’t put it down.
2. Sanderson’s style of writing women, including Vin, is too simplistic."
"☆☆☆ 3/5. Sequel to Mistborn. Same world/magic system. Out of nearly 800 pgs, the first 600 are the MCs staring over a wall at an impeding army. Sanderson squeezes in what action he could with Vin while his male characters shrugged shoulders at each other. Some suspension is sprinkled in as two more armies join the siege. Vin searches for answers on her own but is distracted as she backtracks her character dev from book 1: questioning her femininity and distrusting her friends 😕"
"Not as good as book one, seemed to drag on a bit, but still very good"
