"OK the twist twisted, but it took so long to get to the twist and then some of the impact of the twist was taken away after more was revealed (spoiler: behind the wheel). The story was mostly me waiting for it to get on with it. I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn't do it for me."

"Adam and Amelia go away for a weekend at the mysterious Blackwater Chapel. Multiple points of view and love letters are displayed throughout the story with a twist you couldn’t possibly see coming. This was a fun read. Sometimes I find stories with multiple pov and timelines to be tricky to follow, but each character and timeline was so distinctly different that it was a breeze. The twist…I absolutely didn’t see coming and for me made the story. Perhaps the only thing I’d change about this was how lengthy the beginning was working its way to the twist. The letters were a blast to read but the in between with Adam and Amelia at the Chapel were meh at times. 4/5 for me! "

I was so excited to readthis book, and everyone raves about Alice Feeney and this book, but oh my god, it was so so dull. Both main characters were so unlikeable and bland that I didn't care about the plot or the mystery aspect. Even when the twists came, I didn't bat an eye, not because I saw the twist coming was I was just that uninterested I wasn’t eager to see where the story was going and how it was going to play out and for the characters I honestly think if they were more likable, and had a bit more substance to them, it would've been more interesting it could also just be that I don't care for domestic thrillers I need there to be more drama or more at stake because all that was at stake for the majority of the book was them splitting up and that wasn't enough to have me interested I did like hearing from both of their POV's but then disliked that because I felt like they were repeating the same things over and over and its just about how much they hate each other like please I'm begging just get divorced like we get it lol One thing I did like was the atmosphere outside with the snow and the dark, gloomy lake and the almost deserted little town also inside the church they are staying in the church has a creepy dark vibe to it, so that added a lot to the overall story for me and something else I liked which was The only remarkable thing about one was our main characters the husbands has face blindness which was a fascinating aspect of this book overall i think there’s better winter thrillers out there if that’s what your looking for."
"Very slow and boring for the majority of the book, but several surprising twists in the end. "
