Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets...and secrets hide in every shadow. Welcome to the city of sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets...and secrets hide in every shadowEnne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so–called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school – and her reputation – behind to follow her mother's trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.Frightened and alone, Enne has only one lead: the name Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected – he's a street lord and con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unravelling investment scam, so he doesn't have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne's offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to allhis problems. Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless Mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi's enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city...And she'll need to play.

"A very fun read,it also stands out, so that's a plus!"

"There were so many things about this book that I really enjoyed. First, the main character, Enne was awesome. She was raised a proper lady, she went looking for her mother in the City of Sin, and emerged as a tough young woman who would not take anybody’s crap. Second, I love the diversity in this book. I felt the author incorporated many aspects into her book you don’t typically see in YA fantasy books. And finally, I thought the world building was great. This book is a little like Six of Crows in the sense that it takes place in a city filled with gangs and other dangerous people."

"This book didn’t even meet the “ok” standard. It wasn’t anything special, it made it to my dnf pile— I just couldn’t finish it with how much it bored me. It pulled the cliché “She wasn’t actually a simple girl” or smth like that. The way the author wrote the characters immediately was the first red flag yet I was willing to overlook that and that was my mistake. Another thing was the fact that she kept on mentioning how the mc was “small” or “tiny” to the point where it got repetitive. I feel like it just tried too hard to be like six of crows— to the point where this book feels like a rip off of it just with different characters and slightly different plot."

"I loved Ace of Shades!!
The setting, characters, and plot were all amazing.

SETTING

I loved how it was set in the City of Sin. There was a dangerous element to the location and when it spoke of all the crime families and whatnot, I found it really interesting to follow. It was pretty cool."

"It wasn’t too bad. I was just a bit disappointed with the ending. It was still somewhat decent with the chemistry between the two main characters."
