AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!"The perfect kind of story for our current era."—HypableFeatured in Vulture’s "11 Books to Read If You Already Miss Yellowjackets"!From the author of Burn Our Bodies Down, a feminist Lord of the Flies about three best friends living in quarantine at their island boarding school, and the lengths they go to uncover the truth of their confinement when one disappears. This fresh debut is a mind-bending novel unlike anything you've read before. It's been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put under quarantine. Since the Tox hit and pulled Hetty's life out from under her.It started slow. First the teachers died one by one. Then it began to infect the students, turning their bodies strange and foreign. Now, cut off from the rest of the world and left to fend for themselves on their island home, the girls don't dare wander outside the school's fence, where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything. But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there's more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true. And don't miss Rory Power's second novel, Burn Our Bodies Down!Praise for Wilder Girls:4 STARRED REVIEWS!"Take Annihilation, add a dash of Contagion, set it at an all-girls' academy, and you'll arrive at Rory Power's occasionally shocking and always gripping Wilder Girls."--Refinery29"This thrilling saga...is sure to be one of the season's most talked-about books, in any genre."--EW"Fresh and horrible and beautiful....readers will be consumed and altered by Wilder Girls."--NPR

"Gothic, haunting, and so, so engaging. The plot was so unique and gory, yet I couldn’t put this book down. It’s a really fast and interesting read, with a beautiful cover to boot. The sense of danger never ceases throughout. You can feel the despair, the sickness, the pain. Despite this, the book still allows the audience a shimmer of hope. This book really highlights resilience yet also explores the depths of our emotions with such vivid descriptions. Very good read, I do recommend! "

"2.75 star

So the low rating might have been due to the second half of the story. Yes I'm still mad about it. Though I actually enjoyed a lot about this book. It was wild, dark, and felt oddly real. If you are unaware Wilder Girls is a retelling of Lord of the Flies. A story I had to read in high-school and didn't much care for.

The author did great work with the characters and world building. Both had a raw hunger like quality. Unpredictable and viscous. And the map. It might sound silly but even though it was a small island and there where essentially three places to go the map just brought the world into sharper focus. Dark and atmospheric was the name of the game.

I quite enjoyed Rory's writing style which was chaotic, but still it worked. She painted the girls with deformities and grotesque features. It was actually a surprise given how gorgeous the cover was. Even so there was a beauty in the way something was growing under their skin. They were highly complex, and even though much wasn't given about the girls background I still felt a kingship with them

And then came the halfway point, slowly going down hill then at the end, the story just vanished and there was no more. I was shell-shocked and ****** to say the least."
