"The first part of the story intrigued me, but the longer the story went, the more dramatic some of the conversations and situations seemed--dramatic in a petty way. Conversations sometimes dragged on about things that really didn't matter considering the dire situations they were in. Also, during a pivotal moment in the book, characters seemed to follow the same predictable patterns and though the situation was horrifying, i found myself thinking, "ok, let's move on."<br/><br/>I will say the storyline as a whole was interesting, which drew me to the book in the first place. For some unknown reason, I often find myself drawn to historical fiction based on WWII, and i have not read a book from the perspective of the circus and its performers during this time. So in this way, it was new to me and enjoyable. But it could have been more concise and with less soap opera feels to it for sure!<br/><br/>Also i should mentioned i listened to this via audiobook, with accents included so me reading the book would probably have felt even longer."

"I loved this book and Pam Jenoff is a great author. This book is a fast read (I finished it in less then 5 hours). The thing I liked most about this book was all the details and history of the circus. It's a side of history I have never seen before and I loved every second of it. "
