WINNER OF THE WORLD FANTASY AWARD FOR BEST NOVEL NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF 2021 BY PUBLISHERS WEEKLY, LIBRARY JOURNAL, BOOKLIST, AND THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY A ruthless princess and a powerful priestess come together to rewrite the fate of an empire in this "fiercely and unapologetically feminist tale of endurance and revolution set against a gorgeous, unique magical world" (S. A. Chakraborty, author of the The City of Brass). Exiled by her despotic brother, princess Malini spends her days dreaming of vengeance while imprisoned in the Hirana: an ancient cliffside temple that was once the revered source of the magical deathless waters but is now little more than a decaying ruin. The secrets of the Hirana call to Priya. But in order to keep the truth of her past safely hidden, she works as a servant in the loathed regent's household and cleaning Malini's chambers. When Malini witnesses Priya's true nature, their destinies become irrevocably tangled. One is a ruthless princess seeking to steal a throne. The other a powerful priestess desperate to save her family. Together, they will set an empire ablaze. Praise for The Jasmine Throne: "Suri's writing always brings me to another world; one full of wonders and terrors, where every detail feels intricately and carefully imagined." --R. F. Kuang, author of Babel "Raises the bar for what epic fantasy should be." --Chloe Gong, author of These Violent Delights "An intimate, complex, magical study of empire and the people caught in its bloody teeth. I loved it." --Alix E. Harrow, author of The Once and Future Witches "Suri's incandescent feminist masterpiece hits like a steel fist inside a velvet glove. Simply magnificent." --Shelley Parker-Chan, author of She Who Became the Sun "A fierce, heart-wrenching exploration of the value and danger of love in a world of politics and power." --Publishers Weekly (starred review) "Lush and stunning....Inspired by Indian epics, this sapphic fantasy will rip your heart out." --BuzzFeed News

"The chapters about the two main female protagonists were my favorites. Other characters were less compelling to me. Liked the setting which seemed a fascilimie of India. Solid 4 star book imo."

"This is the second time I’ve read this book and it was just as good as the first time. I feel like the main characters give off the same feeling as the ones in the priory of the orange tree even though their plots are different. My favorite character would have to be Malini and I absolutely hated Vikram and Ashok a little. But I can’t wait to start reading the second book! Also can anyone confirm if its Priya on the cover? I think its her and then Malini is on the Orleander Sword because she has the flower crown. "
"I just reread this and the characters reminded me so much of the characters in The Priory and the Orange Tree. But they were also so different from them at the same time too. I can’t remember if this was a 5 star read when I first read it but I kinda knew what was going to happen this time so it wasn’t as good as it was the first time. The magic system is also really unique. "
"This is my second time reading this. The magic is really unique which I liked. The characters reminded me of the ones in The Priory of the Orange Tree which was my favorite book last year. They reminded me of them but at the same time they were so different. I’m not sure how I would’ve rated this the first time but it wasn’t as good the second time because I knew what was going to happen. But it was cool reading it the second times and catching stuff I either forgot about or didn’t catch before. This is also the first time I’ve reread a book and im glad it was this one."

"My review for this always somehow get deleted. And I don’t want to retype it so long story short, I liked it better the first time I read it. Its a good book but not the best probably because its the first book of a series (idk how long its going to be 2 books r out). Id say its best to wait until all books are out before you start reading it."
