"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* I wrote too much for likewise to handle, check out my goodreads review for the rest! This was a lot. Like extremely too much a lot. I have the first edition which is about 116 pages more than the second edition, so I would like to know what was taken out. And I'm hoping some of the first half of the book was edited because my gosh, that is traumatizing. I will say though, that I liked how it starts right where book 1 ended, it made the beginning a lot better. There were multiple times that I had to close the book or just speed read some parts because it was too much. The trigger warnings need to be taken seriously for the readers mental health. I thought book 1 was bad but this was just way worse. I just felt really bad and disgusted for Addie and those girls who were in the house too. It felt gross and I guess H.D. Calrton did well in her writing because there's only been 1 other book to make me feel super uncomfortable and disgusted, grossed out, etc. I know it's bad to hate things and people but I absolutely hate all those men and women who were involved in the skin trade and grooming of these children and adults. I know it still happens and it sucks that not everyone can stop it like zade tries to. Sydney was really sick in the head, especially when she sabotaged Addie multiple times. I just wanted her dead already lol. The punishments they received were absolutely horrible! Rio had his redeeming qualities but then like Zade said, he can't just be forgiven for letting all the things happen to Addie and for taking her their in the first place. The most cringe things was when Zade carved a rose in his chest for "remembering" his mistakes. That wasn't necessary at all lol. But the second half was so much better! I loved how Carlton wrote Addie's healing journey. She just didn't chalk it up and say "After Addie and Zade found each other, they lived happily ever after..." No, Addie has PTSD, trauma, etc...GOODREADS!!!"
"Honestly I thought it was pretty mid. I didn’t like some of the sex scenes and at the end I felt like the author was just throwing them in one after the other because she had written them and didn’t know where to put them. I felt like the beginning was paced pretty well and then you get to part 2 and it just dragged on way too long. Part 2 went on for literally three hundred pages just to finish the main part of the plot in under 10 pages. Idk… it’s just not my favorite book and I thought the first was a lot better."
"Very intense read but I couldn’t put it down! "
