"A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari 2/5 ⭐⭐
Less mystery, more shy flirting and some mild plant notes. This historical fiction barely portrays the time after WW1 other than a few mentions of affected people and a vague mention of mustard gas and trench warfare. The author's note mentions wanting to portray academia during this timeframe accurately then the leaps she took to add non-existent buildings and plants to her narrative. I don't think I'll be returning to this one."
"Cute mystery and romance. An easy read."

"This audiobook took me a bit to get through. I was highly anticipating this one, but it was a bit of a letdown and a bit slow.
The narrator, Jodie Harris, did a great job on the characters, bringing them to life and the world too. I think part of the issue for me was that I was expecting and hoping for more of a mystery/thriller and this is more of historical fiction. This audiobook was very well done, but I didn't quite click with this story.

Here's the summary from Goodreads: Saffron Everleigh is in a race against time to free her wrongly accused professor before he goes behind bars forever. Perfect for fans of Deanna Raybourn and Anna Lee Huber, Kate Khavari’s debut historical mystery is a fast-paced, fearless adventure.
London, 1923. "I thoroughly enjoyed Saffron Everleigh’s character. She is spunky, smart, ambitious and inquisitive. A botanist ahead of her time finds herself trying to find clues to free her boss who is accused of attempted murder. Add in a colleague for potential romance and the intrigue soars. It’s fun, wholesome entertainment that I couldn’t get enough of."
