"The first one was better but it was still good"

"This movie was made three years after The Ring, but I think it's meant to have happened immediately after the end of it. David Dorfman looks to have hardly aged at all, which helped to make that feasible.
David Dorfman is such a doll. He reminds me of a young Ryan Gosling although now he's a 31-year-old attorney. Elizabeth Perkins was briefly in this movie. Not much to say about that except it was a good performance. Sissy Spacek was my favorite performance but she was also only briefly in the movie. Naomi Watts was great, as usual, but her character was too stupid in this movie. She made dumb decisions which I hate.
I don't feel like anything terribly new or important was discovered. Just Samara doing Samara. My daughter and I were left with many questions and a lot of irritation for Naomi's character and the plotline. I guess it ended with Samara subdued...? Also in the end, I didn't really get why Rachel (Naomi's character) ended up back after what she did. Why did that action bring her back? I'm trying to be as vague as possible to avoid spoiling anything.
I think my favorite scene was at the end of the movie in the well. That was the only really scary part, at least for my daughter. She has a fear of the Asian trope of young girls with long black hair covering their faces and wearing a nightgown and their weird, spidery body contortions. I think they're awesome!
Running out of room. Read my comment for the rest of my review. "
"This doesn't compare to The Ring at all... I am actually surprised that a third movie was made after this one... it feels like a different movie altogether compared to the first one.... the style, script, CGI, etc. I wouldn't recommend watching this because it feels like a waste of time after watching the original. "
""The Ring Two" (2005) attempts to continue the chilling saga of the cursed videotape, but falls short of the original's brilliance. While it manages to deliver some effective scares, it lacks the innovation and depth that made its predecessor a true standout in the genre.
The film picks up where the first installment left off, following Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) as they try to escape the malevolent spirit that haunts them. Naomi Watts delivers another commendable performance, portraying Rachel's desperation and fear with conviction. David Dorfman also reprises his role effectively, showcasing the torment faced by Aidan.
While the atmospheric tension is present, the narrative fails to match the intriguing complexity of the original film. The storyline feels somewhat predictable and lacks the same level of intrigue that kept audiences guessing. The pacing suffers at times, with certain scenes feeling unnecessarily prolonged, detracting from the overall suspense.
Visually, "The Ring Two" maintains the eerie aesthetic established in the first film, with a few memorable and unsettling sequences. However, it fails to introduce new and innovative visuals, relying too heavily on familiar imagery. The sense of novelty and visual impact that made the original so captivating is somewhat lost.
The sequel's soundtrack, while serviceable, doesn't quite reach the same chilling heights as its predecessor. The absence of a standout theme or memorable motifs limits the impact of the score on the overall viewing experience.
Despite its shortcomings, "The Ring Two" does manage to deliver some genuine scares. There are moments of suspense that succeed in generating tension, and a few well-executed jump scares that will startle even seasoned horror enthusiasts.
"The Ring Two" is a decent follow-up that maintains some of the elements that made its predecessor successful but doesn’t quite reach the heights of the first film."
"Not as good as The Ring (the original), a movie I must have watched a dozen times over the years, but still entertaining if you like weird horror films. "
