"I remember when I first watched this I had nightmares for several days after…granted I was young..NOW I just really enjoy this movie and think it’s better then og from Japan. I just really love me some 2000s paranormal spooks and this scratches that itch like no other from the decade. "

"Surprisingly chilling and creepy. I think it’s better than critics rated it. I know it’s a remake but I never saw the original. Naomi watts, David dorfman and martin henderson do a pretty decent job helping to sell this story. 3.5"

"Haven’t seen this movie in almost 12 years and after watching it I noticed i forgot 90% of the movie. I do remember this movie being “scary” back then but I’m so desensitized it didn’t have the same affect. Even now as a adult I’m still somewhat a tiny bit confused by the ending. But it’s still definitely a classic watch for this season. #spookyseason "

"My second time watching, my daughter's first. I just found out this is a trilogy and I'm excited to watch the other two. I haven't seen the original Japanese movie but in thinking I might.
There isn't any gore but there are definitely disturbing images. This movie is almost more of a mystery. There is a lot of investigating throughout. It's about a homemade tape that, once you watch it, you will die in seven days. Naomi Watts plays a single mother to a young boy and she's not the best mom. Her career as an investigative reporter seems to take precedence in her life. Her 15-year-old niece has just died suddenly and she is begged by her sister to find out how and why she died because she seems to have died of fright. Her and her son were very close to her niece so she takes on the investigation. That's all you need to know to get you started!
I loved the young boy l, David Dorfman who played her son. I looked him up and it turns out he is a genius. He was admitted to UCLA at age 13 and graduated as valedictorian. He was admitted to Harvard Law School at 18 and is now a lawyer. Very impressive!
Naomi Watts was wonderful, as usual. I'm a big fan of hers. Especially loved her in The Impossible with Ewan McGregor and a young Tom Holland in his film debut. THAT is an excellent movie!
Amber Tamblyn played the niece. This was back when she was in Joan of Arcadia, just getting her start in the biz. [Not too long after she was in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with America Ferrera (Ugly Betty right after the movie), Blake Lively (in her breakout role), and Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls).]
I enjoyed this movie just as much as I did the first time I saw it 20 years ago. I recommend you add it to your spookfest of movies this year!
