In the 1860s, fiercely independent French-Canadian Vivienne Le Coudy embarks on a journey with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen, attempting to forge a life together in the dusty town of Elk Flats, Nevada. When Holger decides to go fight for the Union in the burgeoning Civil War, Vivienne must fend for herself, which isn't easy in a town controlled by a corrupt mayor.

Now that I've watched this at home after purchasing it on Prime, I like this even more. It's deeply lovely and painful, like life itself. Recommended. "

"Purposely slow slice of life western about the trials and tribulations of living during the civil war era. Written, directed and starring Viggo Mortensen. Shoot, he even did the music. An actors showcase with brilliant views and vistas. Don’t wait for anything exciting to happen but a pleasant enough watch. "
