After a workplace shooting in New Orleans, a trial against the gun manufacturer pits lawyer Wendell Rohr against shady jury consultant Rankin Fitch, who uses illegal means to stack the jury with people sympathetic to the defense. But when juror Nicholas Easter and his girlfriend Marlee reveal their ability to sway the jury into delivering any verdict they want, a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game begins.

"I really don't know how this movie has eluded me for so long. This movie came out 20 years ago and I've just seen it for the first time yesterday. Especially since I love a good courtroom drama.
Very well acted by a great cast. I love Gene Hackman as the antagonist in any movie, he knows how to get under your skin. This movie kept my attention the whole time and had a good pace to it. 8.5/10"
"Watched this many years ago and I watch it every time it comes on tv. Definitely worth it. Amazing story line and acting. "

"This is actually a pretty good movie. Kind of shocked I didn’t see this for so long, despite having seen a lot of adaptations of John Grisham novels (ranging from THE FIRM (1993) to THE CLIENT (1994) to the Francis Ford Coppola-directed THE RAINMAKER (1997) among others). A engaging yet entertaining legal drama exploring the tampering of a jury. Fantastic editing, writing and especially acting (Gene Hackman easily the MVP, along with John Cusack, Rachel Weisz, Cliff Curtis, and Dustin Hoffman). Might rank as one of my Top 2 favorite John Grisham adaptations I’ve seen alongside THE RAINMAKER. Highly recommended.
Side note: This was the penultimate movie role ever for Gene Hackman, who retired (apparently for health reasons) shortly after one additional film released just a few months later. What a role to almost close out a career on! The fact that he got to work with his close friend and former roommate Dustin Hoffman prior to his retirement is an icing on the cake. His presence in movies is sorely missed. "

"Not bad as a stand alone movie and there were a couple of things I liked better in the movie than in the book but it wasn’t a super close adaptation and I think I liked the book better. It was a great cast and the movie played well to the actors abilities. "
