"A very solid ghost story, with excellent camera work and a gorgeous house. The real horror is the denial of powerful men who do not wish to face how they have come by that power. Not very scary- I only spooked one time when I thought Trish Van Devere walking towards the camera was a black shape with orange eyes. This is probably the most empathetic role I’ve ever seen George C Scott play, who was an @sshole in real life."
"It’s still manages to be creepy even though there’s no gore whatsoever. Very good ghost story. Such a classic."
"This is honestly one of my favorite movies. The really slow building mystery and unease. The emotional connection of those investigating the mystery. I don't want to spoil it for anyone be by going into detail, but this is a fantastic film. As someone who can't really watch horror this was excellent!"
"This is hands down the greatest ghost movie I have ever seen. A few years back I made a point of watching all the big ghost movies, and this stood out as having the best story, the best pacing, and the best payoff. It's better than the original The Haunting, better than The Others, a few notches above The Innocents, and one notch above Watcher in the Woods. The pinnacle of paranormal horror films."
"It’s a solid late 70’s horror movie. Not the best ever but I’d watch again "
