Live Free or Die Hard

"4⭐️ Was not expecting the 4th in the Die Hard franchise to be such a taut, techno-y, well paced thriller! The action scenes are some of the most exciting and creative I’ve ever seen. Not to mention the wildly cool stunts and special effects! Everything is solid from plot, script, direction, camera work, editing and even acting. Justin Long is well cast as a nerdy hacker (if his very endearing Galaxy Quest character grew up to be a tiny bit embittered and spent all his time on the dark web) and Willis is..well he’s Willis but still at his best, slightly more subdued and vulnerable, never failing to deliver witty one-liners while kicking butt. The only thing missing the mark, by far, was the treatment of Maggie Q’s character. She’s obviously the baddest-ass in the lair and yet somehow ridiculed as a bimbo lackey, fetishized to boot. It’s a bad look for this film even for 2007. As much as I love Olyphant it would have been a more interesting choice to have her as baddie leader instead of the very original [insert sarcasm] route chosen. As is she can’t do much with the role but does manage to stand out along with a great supporting cast. The final film in the franchise is still on my watchlist but this sequel is far superior to the other two, equalling DH in nail biting suspense and surpassing it in explosions and deaths..as sequels do. It works here!"

"Imo I feel everyone loves the first one and puts this one in 2nd place. This was MY die hard. He threw a car at a helicopter in this. It gave his character more filling introducing his daughter, and the action sequences were just golden. Veteran John in a modern fight and comes out kicking butt as expexted!!"
