"Not in my top favorite compared to some of the others, but it was worth keeping the series going. Can't wait for the next one coming out this year!
*SPOILERS*
After watching Indy go through woman after woman, it was satisfying watching him finally stick with a girl lol. The new father/son dynamic isn't quite as comedic as the OG father/son duo, but it was funny to see a lot of parallels. "
"I didn't grow up watching Indiana Jones or holding the original trilogy up as a touchstone. This was the first Indiana Jones movie I saw. I've seen them all recently and I don't entirely get all the dislike for this one. Is it the best Indiana Jones movie? No. Is it still a silly, campy, ridiculous good time? 100% "
"It's really not as bad as I remember... Flawed, but not as bad as I thought it truly was. I don't think it's as classic as the original trilogy, but I may have to watch this more often than once every 3 or 4 years, definitely. I really enjoyed seeing Indy again and for a, like, 60-year-old Indiana, he's still definitely got it... And I think Marion's return was great. I actually really enjoy Mutt's character, and I don't think that he's a bad companion to Indy. However, the villains here really just weren't as good, and while I think Cate Blanchet gives a great performance, her character is far from memorable like the other Indy villains, and I can't even remember the henchmen. I simply don't think Mac was a very compelling character, and his constant side-switching just gets redundant. Ox wasn't an interesting character to watch, and... To address the elephant in the room, the plot just really isn't that good... The aliens sucked, the Crystal Skull is an uninteresting MacGuffin, and overall, this movie just doesn't feel as... Classic as the original trilogy. It lacks iconic moments, has a far slower pace, and is just plain weird in moments. Temple of Doom was weird in some places, but never as strange as this film... I think the 50's aesthetic was nice, the action sequences fun enough, and the marriage and overall relationship of Indiana and Marion was a highlight, but it's obvious why this film. Is ostracized from the trilogy - It's not as good as them, but not as bad as I thought. 7/10"
