"Rewatched recently & as much as I like Lassie movies/shows, I can't help but wonder how well the animals were treated on set, not only going by the year of the movie (1943), but with also witnessing the action scenes (dog fight, etc.) and also harsh talk to the dog I imagine could have a negative affect as well, other than the physical. Otherwise, beautiful dogs imo. There's also a few scenes in this with a very young Elizabeth Taylor."
