"This was such a great movie. I don’t even want to give anything away about it… buuuuuuut think of a band of thieves/outcasts forming a family. Just find a way and sometime to watch it. Will be worth it. "

"Warm, approachable characters met by the ineffable charm of a hand picked family cast against the backdrop of poverty and invisibility. It felt like the story was going nowhere until I realized the connection and love between the people in this household was the story -- a kind you don't want to end."

"Usually when we think of Japan, an utopian community comes to mind but this movie shows that there are people struggling everywhere. Very well done!"

"Better than Parasite. A warm story of a family surviving by unconventional means."

"The filmmaker worked hard to create a sense of urgent ephemeralness. I cried and cried at the final scene, heartbreaking."

"Watched on Hulu. The story of a family who live on the fringes of Japanese society. The Dad and young boy find a little girl who lives with an abusive mother. They decide to bring the young girl home and integrate her into the family. The movie is an excellent "slice of life" film and reveals the true nature of the family's bonds over it's 2 hour runtime."
