Kris Kringle, seemingly the embodiment of Santa Claus, is asked to portray the jolly old fellow at Macy's following his performance in the Thanksgiving Day parade. His portrayal is so complete that many begin to question if he truly is Santa Claus, while others question his sanity. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation in 2009.

"This is such a beautiful film! I loved the message of faith being the act of believing even when common sense tells you not to. The whole movie was just pure Christmas magic. I’ll admit I even teared up when Susie wrote the letter to Kris. It’s just a perfect holiday film and I can’t believe it took me this long to see it!"

"A movie about believing in the people around us, even if sense says no. All the performances are solid. My only objection is to ask if St. Nick would really bean someone in the head with his cane, but, after seeing the way he acted in the stop motion Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, I can believe it. The classic about the crazy old man who thinks he's Santa Claus. Or is he crazy? SPOILER ALERT That's for the court to decide! This movie's now iconic final argument is still hilarious to see."
"One of my fondest childhood memories. A heartwarming movie of belief in humanity and the power of love. "
