sydneyvery quick read, finished it in one sitting, very real and raw, replicates the mindset of an insecure person very well, kinda of cathartic after struggling with eating issues. although i would not suggest reading it unless you feel very far removed from eating disorders, if you’re still in the tick of dealing with EDs or dealing with a loved one is in the thick of it, avoid this book.
sydneybreathtaking, tragic, so entertaining, i finished it in four days which is rare for me bc i read so slowly most of the time! my heart was actually racing at some points and i felt for every character. everyone should read this.
sydneyi understand her so much like…she’s so relatable which is odd considering how unusual her life circumstance are compared to mine. this actually really helped me to see what being dependent on a man is like from an outside perspective and helped me reflect on my own relationships. it’s very sad how from such a young age he is all she cared about and all she had in her life. this is making me more inspired to pursue education and a fuller life in general so i don’t end up going crazy just bc my man is busy. not judging her at all btw like i could easily be in her position right now bc i also get obsessed abt guys and wrap my whole life around them. anyways, entertaining and fast read, relatable too.
sydneythis book got me back into reading, first book i’ve finished since last summer
sydneyan outsiders look at the trauma of enduring teenage girlhood. obviously the Lisbon’s situation is uniquely horrible, but the stories about them reveal a universal feeling of hopelessness, indescribable pain, and brief glimpses of freedom experienced by most teen girls. a new favorite of mine. 🤍
