"I went in expecting an action series. This is definitely not that. But it is a very well written, well acted historical fiction based on some actual people from that era. Anna Sawai gives an award winning performance and it’s a pleasure to see Hiroyuki Sanada work. It does get somewhat slow in the middle episodes while setting up the story, but if you stick it out it has a great payoff in the last few episodes. This is a mini series based on a book, so no second season. "

"Finally! Every now and then we get master pieces like Shogun that will win the minds of masses. Shogun is a historical fiction set in 1600 based on a best selling novel by James Clavell. After only two episodes, I feel this series will be worth mentioning in the same breath as other great historical (and Mythic) dramas like Vikings, the Last Kingdom, GOT, and others - so far it seems to be showing GREAT promise. Some things i felt it did great were writing, directing, cinematography, and story. The show is rich with good acting and good production. Highly recommend this, seriously can’t wait to continue watching. "

"Not exactly what I wanted but I think it’s better that way. Really just wanted an action packed show but this is not at all that. Yes there is action but it’s more brutal then fun. My favorite character is definitely Yabushige. He just makes the scene more entertaining whenever he is on screen. Plus his motive is simple to survive. Some things definitely go above my head because it is definitely fully adult oriented. But I enjoy how their is a lot going on and they mainly just let you figure it out on your own. Really good acting and the dialogue really feels superb. Enjoyed this can’t wait for more. You can tell a lot of money went into this because every episode feels almost like a movie. And it looks incredible. I can’t wait to see more of Ochiba because she wasn’t in this season to much.Fuji is great too. And of course Blackthorne and toranaga as well. I wish could go more in detail with everything happening but I watched the episodes pretty spread out. Plus my memory isn’t that great anymore and their is a ton of things details every episode. Good show would not recommend for a casual watcher for sure though."

"This was a really good show, had me hooked from the first couple episodes. An interesting story to watch unfold, great dialogue and interactions throughout. Really worth your time, if you don't mind reading subtitles I would recommend."
