Babylon 5 is a five-mile long space station located in neutral space. Built by the Earth Alliance in the 2250s, its goal is to maintain peace among the various alien races by providing a sanctuary where grievances and negotiations can be worked out among duly appointed ambassadors. A council made up of representatives from the five major space-faring civilizations - the Earth Alliance, Minbari Federation, Centauri Republic, Narn Regime, and Vorlon Empire - work with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to keep interstellar relations under control. Aside from its diplomatic function, Babylon 5 also serves as a military post for Earth and a port of call for travelers, traders, businessmen, criminals, and Rangers.

"Next to Star Trek TNG, this is my second favorite sci-fi TV series. "

"A far superior version of DS9, this show actually caused me to have an existential crisis and subsequent awaking. In a latter season the captain was held prisoner and tortured and his captors kept asking him who he is. He answered as we most initially would, with names, titles, rank, etc. All deemed incorrect answers. The point was he is not a name or title or body for that matter, he, just like you are I, is something ethereal, something more than words and greater than language. Great show!"
"This show is so good! Pretty revolutionary for the space opera genre, considering it was probably the first to use all CGI instead of models for wide shots of the ships. Very well written (except for the romance, but that's to be expected with this type of show I suppose). Not that well known, but more people should be aware of it, imo."
