Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first Shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The Shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone-tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness of space. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

"The cinematography and special effects are phenomenal. And of course, Sandra Bullock gives a stellar performance. I'm not the type of person that gets nervous or has anxiety... Until I saw this movie. OMG!!! I was totally stressed watching this, but in a good way. When a movie can make you feel a wide array of emotions, whatever they may be, that's a sign that it is well done. 9/10"

"Holds up outside of a theater. Still thrilling as hell. Lubezki is king. Unforgettably stunning visuals. I know some dislike this film for issues regarding scripting and physics, but I simply do not understand or agree. Suspension of disbelief. Not about the script. But the themes are still lovely: I personally love this films concentration on grief, and the smallness of human beings, and the hopeful evolution-related symbolism involved. Such an achievement."
