"It’s about so many things. The pros of merging science and tech, the evil that could result from using that power by a third ignorant party and it’s also about a psychoanalyst who tends to escape reality. I guess everyone could see it through a different perspective. I’d watched Inception long time ago but didn’t know it was based on this amusing anime. "
"I have no idea what I just watched. Everyone online seems to hype up this movie as the best of the best in animated filmmaking, but I don't see it. Yes, this is a spectacle in animation, but almost everything else falls short. The villain is lackluster, and the relationships between the characters feel underdeveloped and sometimes forced. I am only rating this higher because of its poetic value. This movie is supposed to be analyzed beyond its surface value for its themes and metaphors. That is why so many people are riding this movie so hard.
Paprika is a great movie thematically and artistically, but the plot and characters fall short.
