"This film is definitely considered noir, although the real film noir is technically 1940s to 1950s films with certain attributes. But since this is a film which is set during that time period, for me, it fits as noir. Jack Nicholson is a jaded ace investigator, who is hired by the wealthy wife of a local official to find out what her husband is doing with his free time. Soon, he finds out that the corruption lies underneath the surface, and there are more layers to his investigation than he ever believed possible. Incredible acting, slow pacing at times, but overall, a good and intelligent plot."

"This is the best detective movie I have ever seen, Jack Nicholson was meant for this role. This movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to figure out what the end result was going to be with all the clue Gittes kept collecting. The story is great and the ending was tragic and sad, which I enjoyed seeing that you don’t see endings like that."
