"Ricky Gervais is still awkwardly funny. He probes the tenderest of life’s moments and finds pathos and wicked humour. Dark and delicious."

"much much worse than derek. too bitter not enough sweet. the main character killing a junkie because he is depressed really ruined the rest of the show. constant excuses being used to defend unethical and illegal behavior. hollow unlikeable characters all around doesn't help either."

"A dark dark (not so much) comedy at first but eventually a love letter to the small things in life that make it worth living. 8 out of 10"

"I found this surprisingly poignant, hilarious and effectively brutal at times. Ricky Gervais is so authentically human in this…not surprising that he wrote and directed this limited series. "

"The same as Derek you will be laughing and crying at the same time. The love this man has for his wife is so beautiful. Plus all the people that are in his life are truly so funny. "

"(Huge trigger warning for suicide/suicidal talk.) No matter how good something is, it's hard for me to call anything "one of the best" when it's so short compared to the usual season formulas. After life isn't one of the greatest anything, but not many things are. It is great, though. There are three season, six episodes each, and every episode is super important. There's a lesson to be taken from each one, and some build upon a lesson from before. Some might even feel like they repeat a lesson, but I found it true to life. You don't absorb all wisdom the first time around, do you? Ther s great stuff to laugh at, some real disgusting and maybe disturbing stuff that acts as the foundation for some laughs. It's very foul, as I've found more common in U.K. shows than U S., but despite my dislike for Ricky Gervais as a persn, his writing is surprisingly mature and grow-up. Not just grown up, but grown-past and his character isn't too stubborn as to disrespect those who are sincere and deserving of more than just the base respect as humns. One thing about the description on here, though, his wife doesn't suddenly die. She does from cancer and isn't in the show's present. She's only seen in home video. I highly recommend this short and beautiful story. "

"This series was fantastic - never watched a show that had me hysterically laughing then crying so much in every episode. Cringing as well.."
