Michael DouglassGood hood movie. The Letterboxd description of it is pretty whack, calling it a cross between Boyz n the Hood and Blood In, Blood Out. I don't think it's as important as either. It's a very superficial comparison. Regardless, it's pretty bare bones, but it's enjoyable.

I've never seen a movie with as many majestic stills as this movie. Extremely powerful and I can't even put the words to it. It feels like to "review" this movie is to inherently compare it to other works of art. It would feel like I was judging it by a superficial set of standards that are used for other works of art whose goals are beneath this. All I can do is describe it objectively: Intense, heartwarming, heart-wrenching, humbling, true...
Michael DouglassOne of the greatest movies I've ever seen. A near perfect sci-fi action flick, and I don't really do sci-fi like that. Milla Jovovich kills it. Chris Tucker kills it. The world building looks effortless. No character is gone to waste and everything comes perfectly together. All the dialogue, the action, the plot. It's immediately in my top 10.

This was funny as Hell and legit one of the better teacher-in-an-urban-class movies I've seen. The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard. I think it has fun without punching down, instead punching itself.

It was pretty funny. I think it maybe could've leaned into the heart of the issue more, but the funny parts were funny.

It starts off strong with a good performance from Wendy de Jesús, begins to decline, then repeats itself for some reason. It gives us the same set of scenes back-to-back. The middle gets into enjoyably-bad movie territory. When a certain character is in the scene, it starts to feel like a superhero movie. It's definitely something I'll put on for background noise but will tune into for a few select scenes.
