The right cause can topple a kingdom . . . Once upon a time, the kingdoms of Wales were rife with magic and conflict - and eighteen-year-old Mererid 'Mer' is well-acquainted with both. As the last living water diviner, she can manipulate water with magic - a unique elemental power many would kill to possess. For years, Mer has been running from the prince who bound her into his service - and forced her to kill thousands with her magic. Now, all Mer truly wants is a safe, quiet life, far from power and politics. But then Mer's old handler - the king's spymaster - returns with a proposition: use her powers to bring down the very prince that abused them both. Part heist novel, part dark fairy tale, and rich with Welsh legends, The Drowned Woods is an ethereal fantasy, perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and Maria V. Snyder.

"It was good but not amazing. I wasn't as invested as I normally am in this kind of story. I am not sure if the character development just didn't do it for me or what but I just had a hard time keeping with it. I liked the premise and the characters and it was entertaining just not a "couldn't put it down, page-turner.""

"4/5 I really liked this book!! It only took me about 3 reading sessions. The writing is lovely. Beautiful elements of water and magic woven throughout the story telling. Her emphasis on choices and consequences is explored from so many different angles and I loved that. I do wish the connections between some of the characters were developed a little more but with such a fast paced story there wasn't much time for it so I understand sacrificing some of the relationship depth for its length. If you are looking for a quick read delving into a magical kingdom and a heist filled with tough choices and some twists and turns along the way I'd definitely recommend it!!!"

"4/5 stars It was pretty fast paced but the story was still enjoyable. Kinda wish the book spent more time enforcing the connections between the characters. But it was a fun read overall!"

"Well written and the story kept me interested the whole time. Read it quickly which is always a good sign. Would have loved a longer epilogue."
