"I was not super into this book. I feel like it was way too long for one thing but also felt like the plot would get lost. New characters kept getting introduced at the very end of the book, and new ideas to that hadn't been part of the world building... like all the sudden she has a living house and she can see and talk to ghosts but it's totally normal to her even though supposedly she had never used her powers (on purpose) before... then time travel is a thing... I don't know it just felt like things kept getting thrown at the story."
"So many faults in this one for me. This author seemed to miss the writing class on "show not tell" with character development, for some reason she repeats things over and over again as if we didn't get it the first time or can't connect the dots. What finally got me to DNF it was the idiotic pseudoscience in regards to genetics and what external factors can affect them being framed as potentially real. These sorts of things can affect people's views on the way their bodies work in real life and i think it's frankly irresponsible to frame it like this. It's giving Andromeda Strain but so much worse because this book *didn't need to frame it as fitting in the scientific framework at all*. We have the ability to suspend disbelief, but the way those sections in the lab were written breaks A) all EHS and human subject guidelines (idc if witches aren't technically human, that means you didn't get approval to do animal testing either) and B) completely misconstrues how mutations in DNA/chromosomes work at all but framing it as if it is POSSIBLE. No thank u I have enough science at work I don't need this poorly written version of it in a fantasy series"
"If Twilight was written by an esteemed Oxford scholar, You would get this series. Filled with historical information and richly detailed. One of my favorite series. I've read it over and over, and I always get something new out of it. I consider this my desert island series, because I would definitely choose this to take with me. Absolutely fantastic!"
"3.5 stars. The beginning was super boring for me. I'm not super into this particular romance dynamic, but it got better at the end. The story is enough to keep me interested to read the next novels, especially considering I was much more intrigued by the end of the first.
Edit: DNF the second in the series. Just didn't like it. Kinda like a grown up twilight and I just don't care for romance. "
"So I read about %80 of this and just couldn't go on any further. It started out so well. A mysterious book, a witch not acting like one, three different types of creatures coming after her. I mean such a plot where is this going why is this story falling into place. Then about half of the way through it comes to a complete halt. I'm not sure well the plot goes. The story drones on about everything how she is so amazing and her and this guy who barely know each other are destined. Everyone who looks at her praises her even people who had reasons to hate her. She just melded into everyone's heart and family and friends like she had been there from the start. The plot was all way to perfect and everything she did made her more perfect and then more destined to be together. I thought like others it would be a adult twilight rendering maybe. The book actually had way to many similarities to me and not in a good way. It felt like a young adult book even though they are in their 30s except for all the wine drinking. It was just so promising I can't believe it fell so far so fast. It was honestly torture trying to finish it and I couldn't do it.

So spoiler time.........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
...........
80% of the book I wrote down all the twilight similarities I just thought it was a little to much.
1.Vampire Possessive
2.Her Blood singing to him
3.Vampire only Changing the dying
4.Vampire Vegetarian
5.Vampire only Hunted criminals
6.Watching through her window
7.Talking in her sleep to him
8. "I call this one sophisticated scholarly Bella gets her vampire. I would recommend for someone that enjoys this genre, it is very long but it really takes you into their world and feels very complete. "
