"More like a 3.5. I will say that I watched the show first only because 1) I was on a book buying ban at the time it came out and 2) I kind of wanted to see how I liked the show before I read it(because I obviously already knew I was going to read it lol). So when I started to read this book, I already knew most of what was going to happen and yet I still liked it. It had some great quotes, but by the end of the book I was left feeling unsatisfied. That's why I'm giving a 3.5, the actors did an amazing job bringing the characters to life and adding even more tension and complexity to them than how they were in the book. I could still feel the tension and love but it wasn't the same. I noticed the differences between the show and book, and I honestly like how they changed them, it added more to the storyline. I love Warren, but who doesn't lol. Everyone felt the same but I feel like Camila was more hard-headed in the book and at one point when she's talking to daisy, she was a bit harsh. I get it, she's protecting her family and herself but they way she said what she said was hurtful(at least to me). I wish they could've kept the big songs from the book into the show, just because they played a huge role. But I do love "More fun to miss". I'd say for this case, I loved the adaptation more than the book. Still a good read."
"This was a great book. Not my typical read, but I have enjoyed other books by the author and wanted to give this one a shot. I breezed right through this. I wanted everything to go everyone’s way but I knew that wasn’t possible. I was rooting for Billy’s sobriety and hoping Daisy would get there. I was surprised when the “author” was revealed and I thought that the way this book wrapped up was realistic and not a fairy tale ending which I appreciated. "
"I was captivated and thoroughly entertained reading this. The interview style never got old and felt so real I had to double check this was a fictional band. I could almost hear them while reading. I have read most of what Taylor Jenkins Reid has written and this is probably my favorite. I am so impressed. Great read!"
"The book itself is 4 stars, but that audiobook?! Unbelievably good and worth all 5 stars I’m giving it. Filled with all the sex, drugs, and rock n roll you’d expect from a novel inspired by Fleetwood Mac, this faux oral history hit all the right notes. Keeping this spoiler free, there were a few reveals towards the end that made me roll my eyes, and that was a bummer. But overall, I highly recommend this one but you MUST listen to the audiobook!!!!!!! "
"Wow I have so many thoughts on this book just wow. Ok first of all I watched the show before the book (because I didn't know it was a book) and even though there are some minor changes I love them both and the creative differences are just *chefs kiss* I think I like the show a little more because I felt like the story and the songs and the visuals were very well played but the book helped me understand more the depth of the characters although most of the changes the show made I prefer over the book.
Second I did not know this book is written in a dialogue manner. I always prefer a novel that feels like a story and is written like one. That being said I really liked it because it gave me a view of each characters mind and bias because of how they would say things. It was definitely more thought provoking than just reading it like a novel.
Overall the story I knew I loved because I watched the show and the way it was written was very good and I really enjoyed it. It is very dramatic in a subtle way and my emotions were in turmoil (in a good way) even thought I watched the show. I think it is worth a read and sorry for the long review :)"
