This hilarious story of a man reborn as a villain in a fantasy novel series who ends up romancing the male protagonist is now in English, for the very first time.Half-demon Luo Binghe rose from humble beginnings and a tortured past to become unrivaled in strength and beauty. With his dominion over both the Human and Demon Realms and his hundreds-strong harem, he is truly the most powerful protagonist...in a trashy webnovel series! At least, that's what Shen Yuan believes as he finishes reading the final chapter in Proud Immortal Demon Way. But when a bout of rage leads to his sudden death, Shen Yuan is reborn into the world of the novel in the body of Shen Qingqiu--the beautiful but cruel teacher of a young Luo Binghe. While Shen Qingqiu may have the incredible power of a cultivator, he is destined to be horrifically punished for crimes against the protagonist. The new Shen Qingqiu now has only one course of action: get into Luo Binghe's good graces before the young man's rise to power or suffer the awful fate of a true scum villain! This Chinese fantasy (xianxia) comedy built around the romanticized love between two men (danmei) has been translated into numerous languages and inspired the animated series Scumbag System, which amassed millions of streaming views--including the English version on YouTube through Tencent Video. As the first novel series by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu to spur a global multimedia franchise, this incredibly fun tale led the way to her future blockbusters in the danmei genre: Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Official's Blessing. The Seven Seas English-language edition will include exclusive, all-new covers and interior illustrations from Xiao Tong Kong (Velinxi) and feature a translation by Faelicy (faelicy) & Lily (lily_ocho).

"It was a great book, I love how the author writes about the characters, the inner monologue that Shen Yuan is always doing makes it a definite worth reading book, the humor is definitely worth it. I absolutely adore the writing style though I am a little bummed about how much the author just kind of skips over, like what Luo BingHe’s life is like in the abyss (though I kind of understand why, since it is in Shen Yuan’s perspective through out the whole thing) and with how Shen Yuan is in general, he isn’t to fast on the uptake, such as noticing that he is being obsessed over through out the whole thing- it’s like reading about someone who is mentally blind to every thing around him. It is kind of funny to read his perspective of things, but the second hand embarrassment from the things he assumes are happening is something that is really uhmm… interesting?? It is a great book but sometimes it is a little annoying how much the author uses the practical “time-skip” through out the whole book and series. Onto the illustrations, absolutely magnificent. They portray everything I was thinking they would be when I imagined certain scenes in my head. There is a range of around two images per chapter and the chapters are pretty long. The overall book and series was likable aside from those few mentioned factors that I wrote of. Overall that book hits a good five stars in my opinion!! "

"Hear me out. This series is the first of three written by Mo Xiang Tang Xu. It is also her weakest one, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong -- it's a good story, an addicting read, and (perhaps more importantly in this case) has a fanbase that writes the most amazing fanfiction. I cannot recommend it enough for that reason alone; though it is my least favorite of MXTX's works, it has the best fanfiction.
SVSSS is written in a very self-aware way, wherein the author subverts and/or leans heavily into tropes of this genre to be a parody of sorts. It's a very humorous, emotional, and fun read.
That said, and without getting into spoilers, I just couldn't bring myself to get into the relationship of the main pairing. I've heard many, many arguments for why it's a good pairing AND I've read many fanfiction where they are explored and enjoyed those thoroughly, as well. It just didn't work for me. But give it a chance for yourself! "
