"Kate Worthington knows her heart and she knows she will never marry. Her plan is to travel to India instead - if only to find peace for her restless spirit and to escape the family she abhors. But Kate's meddlesome mother has other plans. She makes a bargain with Kate: India, yes, but only after Kate has secured - and rejected - three marriage proposals. Kate journeys to the stately manor of Blackmoore determined to fulfill her end of the bargain sooner rather than later and enlists the help of her dearest childhood friend, Henry Delafield. But when it comes to matters of love, bargains are meaningless and plans are changeable. There on the wild lands of Blackmoore, Kate must face the truth that has kept her heart captive. Will the proposal she is determined to reject actually be the one thing that will set her heart free? Set in Northern England in 1820, Blackmoore is a regency romance that tells the story of a young woman struggling to learn how to follow her heart."--Publisher's description.

"I thought this was such a fun story. This is a historical fiction romance set in the late 1800s in England, I think.

The characters were a little flat but they were interesting. The author could have spent a little more time on this. They still were really funny and you could tell the emotions of each character. Kate was pretty cool and Henry was well suited for her.

The prose was pretty splendid. The way the author used the words were pretty great and hinted towards Jane Austen's classics. One thing I didn't like was the flashbacks in between chapters. The transitions were pretty well done but I had a hard time believing that the MC would remember ever single details like that.

The overall story was pretty okay. The idea was quite interesting but how it carried out sort of disappointed me. But it worked out and was engaging. It's pretty angsty which I really enjoyed. I pull this out when I want some angst and it delivers quite well.

Historically, I think it does a fairly well job of representing the social rules. Of course some were dismissed for the sake of the story, but otherwise I think it was accurate."
"DNF at 25%. After reading some reviews to see if this book would get any better and less boring, I decided to call it quits. The only promise of hope put forth by reviewers was the romance and seeing as Kate was incredibly annoying and Henry was just bland and the hidden feelings were astutely obvious, I determined that this probably wasn't worth my time.

I'm sure it's good for someone, just not for me."
"The end was cute but I still love edenbrooke so so so much more"
