"I loved this book. A painting of a young woman that was lost (or stolen) during WWI France. The mystery unfolds as the tales of two young women are told…."

"Beautiful but the ending left me feeling confused. I wanted to be happy but it didn’t seem like the right ending for some reason. "

"This was my first JoJo Moyes book. I am not a big chick-lit or romance novel reader, but this one was quite enjoyable! While there are some things that are contrived and happily ever after in this book, I also thought it had some interesting characters and plot development. It was a bit slow and I read it while reading other books over the course of about a month, but I found by the end, I just HAD to know what was going to happen!"

"I listened to this as an audiobook and I think I'd have preferred to have read it myself; it was hard to continue to engage my attention for the hours the audiobook required. The story was good although I far preferred the first half to the second half. Much of it the second half was, unfortunately, a bit predictable for me. The narrator on the audiobook did an excellent job creating voices that were recognizable for each character, and I enjoyed her female characterizations but I struggled a bit with her versions of the male voices--they came across a bit "oily" in most cases, and therefore it was hard for me to really like any of the men in the book, even the "good guys." I'd have preferred having my own voices in my head for them, I think. I also couldn't quite keep myself from wondering whether that much paparazzi and public hoopla would really be raised over a court case about art, regardless of the historical background. I'm sure there are cases going on about art with some regularity and I have yet to see one in the paper. That being said, again, if I'd read this myself rather than an audio version, I'd probably have given it a higher rating because it wouldn't have required so much of me to get through."

"I loved reading this book. I typically don't like when books jump time periods but for this book it worked. I couldn't put it down. This is my second book by Moyes and I have to say I cannot get enough of her writing. Well done Jo Jo. Can't wait to read the next one."

"I loved this book. I have had it on my kindle for about a year and I can't believe it took me so long to read it! Once I finally had a chance to sit down and read it uninterrupted, I could not put it down. This is the only Jojo Moyes book I have read, and I only picked it up because the subject matter appealed to me - her other books never really interested me at all. I loved the story line about Sophie during WWI and that was truly the best parts of the book. What can I say - I am fascinated with all things WWI and WWII."
"This book is INCREDIBLE!! It jumps between two women’s stories in different times in history. So beautifully written. One of my all time faves"
