Percy is confused. When he awoke after his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain-fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight. Somehow Percy managed to make it to the camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he had to continually kill monsters that, annoyingly, would not stay dead. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him. Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. When the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk.

"This is the second book in the Heroes of Olympus series. Introducing even more new characters this time, mostly focused on the Roman side of the Gods and the Roman half-blood camp. Percy is now the one who doesn’t remember all he remembers is Annabeth and that he is a son of Poseidon. At the beginning, it is a lot to remember who the people are and how they connect to each other. There are Greek vs Roman names as well as monsters being resurrected which surprise, are trying to kill Percy. Hera/ Juno has a masterful plan of combining the two camps to save the world. Yes there’s a lot going on in this book but the quest is enjoyable, the storyline, and the plot as it connects to the past books and even the original Percy Jackson series is seamless. The book includes old favorites like Tyson as they try to find Percy in all the confusion.
I think overall, it’s a great introduction for the Roman camp. It showed the abilities and strengths of the other demigods and showed that by the time they are facing their biggest threat, it’ll make for a very interesting competition. The more people that are introduced, I find myself having to think about who is who, their powers, or their connections to the main characters. The book kept me interested with the fights, change in scenery, and the learning of new information for all characters involved. I really enjoyed this book. It kept me intrigued and made me want to keep reading along to find out the next adventure point. The first book and this one felt like intro books for what is about to become a group of seven demigod children. I have no complaints for this book and I am excited to continue the series. As I continue I’m definitely glad to not have stopped at Percy Jackson. This book had me thinking “they can’t possibly pack more in” and then they did, tastefully. "
"I'm so happy to have Percy's Pov in this book. The other characters are wonderful and I love them but no one is as funny and strange as Percy Jackson. It's also so interesting to see what others think of him and how others see his actions, that he views as silly. The characters are all so unique and interesting! Love it"
