Lynn Painter
A New York Times Bestseller In this “unequivocally hilarious and delightful” (Kirkus Reviews) young adult romp for fans of Recommended for You and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, a teen girl has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again. After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine’s Day, Emilie Hornby escapes to her grandmother’s house for some comfort and a consolation pint of Ben & Jerry’s. She passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she’s back home in her own bed—and it’s Valentine’s Day all over again. And the next day? Another horrendous V-Day. Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can’t wake up from as she re-watches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day. In addition to Josh’s recurring infidelity, Emilie can’t get away from the enigmatic Nick, who she keeps running into—sometimes literally—in unfortunate ways. How many times can one girl passively watch her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?

"This is my second Lynn Painter read and I am definitely a fan of hers!! My first read was Better Than the Movies and it was one of my favorite reads of 2023. This book was super cute and fun! I love me a time loop story and even though there were a couple confusing side details and some predictability, I appreciated how it all unfolded and loved the ending. I read a special edition which had 2 bonus chapters with Nick’s POV and I just loved those additions! Excited to read more from this swoon worthy author."
"I really enjoyed this, very cutesy. However, I would have liked to have some more closure relating to the whole “do-over” thing, I feel like so much more could’ve been done with this concept and I can’t lie, I was a bit disappointed that the ending wasn’t more jaw dropping or revealing as to what exactly happened. "
"Super YA cheesey, like unbelievable. I liked the ending but the book was hard to get through and had me a bit annoyed ngl. I was super excited after reading better than the movies but it didn’t live up to my expectations. I don’t recommend reading it unless you REALLY need unrealistic fluff. I also didn’t like how she barely developed the main male lead. It didn’t make sense for him to fall in love with her after only one day together… sure she’s had multiple days to know him but he never really new her, I was hoping for the he fell first ark but was also disappointed there too 😭"
"this book was cute and I loved Emilie and Nick’s relationship! I finished the whole book in a day… but, I was somewhat disappointed. I wish there was more depth into the characters and the plot was thought through a little more. there were definitely some confusing parts where I had to reread sections to understand. also I feel like there was something lacking. maybe the ending was too rushed/sudden? the story did have a really good message behind it and overall I enjoyed this book! I just definitely feel like it could have had more potential! 3.5 ⭐️"
"i had to DNF this one. the writing was good and nick was my ideal guy, but i just couldnt with the plot. there were times when i couldn’t tell if the writer had gotten confused about what happened on what day, and it made me skeptical about the plot itself. that’s when the plot started getting weird. all of a sudden, seemingly out of nowhere nick is just madly in love with the mc and the plot just started getting horribly unbelievable, even for a time loop romance. the main characters arc felt rushed as well, sure she had reasons to stop caring about what happened in her time loop situation, but it was like one day she just upped and was a different person entirely. basically, it turned into a completely different book after the halfway point for no clear reason other than it’s a time loop situation, and i just couldn’t keep going"
"this was very cute but i can't help but think that the groundhog day plot was unnecessary to the story. there also seemed to be quite a few careless mistakes that escaped an editor. a random pop quiz when the same events are supposed to happen every day, 96 miles per hour in a 45 zone is apparently 30 miles over the speed limit. another thing, emilie's character arc felt a little rushed. the way it was written, i felt like she didn't really have sufficient cause to spiral like she did, despite the fact that the events that occurred debatably did warrant it. emilie's relationships with her "best friends" lacked depth. and i resent how this book included the misogynistic evil popular girls trope for seemingly no reason. all that being said, i really enjoyed nick and emilie's romance, enough that i cannot honestly give this book a rating lower than 3 stars."
