So I’m currently 2/3rds through with “Shadow and Bone” and so far it’s okay? Anyway, I had watched the TV show on Netflix a bit ago and was wondering what happened to the rest of the stories? I really wanted to pick up the book because of one of the side stories with the “witch” who could control emotions/heartbeats, and the witch hunter. But so far nothing has been mentioned of them or the other stories.

Julz I’m not so sure about the witch but six of crows is it’s own separate duology and they were in the show. Maybe the witch is in that duology. It is better than the shadow and bone trilogy though that trilogy isn’t bad either.

KyKy Thank you! So far it’s going okay, the characters are a bit annoying and childish but it is YA so it makes sense

Luke Robinson Six of Crows is the 4th book in the timeline. It will introduce you to the characters you are referring to. The Six of Crows duology follows a completely separate plot than the original trilogy and I think it’s 5-10 years later in time. The TV show tried to combine the two storylines for some reason.

Hailey It's been awhile since I read this trilogy, but I don't remember anything about a Witch and Witch Hunter... Unless you're referring to Nina and Matthias? Cause those are Six Of Crows characters. If you're not enjoying it and just want to read Soc, you can get away with not reading the whole trilogy. If you've read the first book, you're set for world building and understanding the magic system, but will have a spoiler for Soc.

Fairy Nightingale That’s because the show is fanfiction. The grisha who can control heartbeats is Nina (a heartrender, Corporalki) and she’s in the Six of Crows duology, which takes place a few years after the S&B trilogy; basically they’re at different age brackets during the timeline, so, Nina would’ve been younger than Alina during the S&B books. But in the show, it’s meshed together.

KyKy Yeah, I learned her name right after making the post. I got really scared for a second thinking her story was just made up for the show

Ashley Honestly just skip Shadow and Bone you don't have to read it to enjoy Six of Crows. And Six of Crows is ten times more enjoyable.
