"This was once described to me as the Asian version of Forrest Gump. Long winded, occasionally depressing, and full of heart. I think that is doing this movie a disservice. The Joy Luck Club is an incredible movie about family, past and present. I have yet to see another movie quite like this one and therefor it lives in my brain, I find myself thinking about this movie quite often. If you're in the mood for it, this movie is top notch"
"What a great film, I strongly recommend."

"This was a groundbreaking film when it was released. I was under the youthful delusion that it would mark a change in Hollywood's attitude toward people of color and their stories. That aside, this is great tale of family. It may feel less relevant to folks under 30; but, it still holds up."
